I modified the Setup.ini in the GW5.5EPSP2 silent install and it also works to bypass the language prompt.

Well, for GW6, there is a new file called setup.ini that controls the language dialog.

I opened a ticket with Novell on this (GW 5.5). The official answer was that the only solution was to download the English only client to bypass the language dialog that is generated by the multilingual version. We did and it runs silently.

The only drawback is when we do upgrades, the upgrade insists on doing the multilingual install and we have to install the English only client as a separate step.

Dennis or anyone who has performed a 6.x client install,

I am very interested in knowing how the rollout turned out after the dust settles. How many clients are you updating? What client update method did you use? What was the average time for a client install to complete? Did users experience any problems using the 5.5x client against the 6.x back end? What is the configuration of the server doing the push-down? What is the network config?

In our testlab, I created an .AOT that ran the Setup.Exe based on the Setup.Cfg. The elapsed time to install the client was less than 5 minutes to either a Win95B or W2K PC. However there are concerns that attempting to update hundreds of clients in one fell swoop. I guess I am looking for the max number of clients to install per push down?

There is another annoying part of the install. Setup.Cfg is configured not to show dialogs during the install (HideAllDialogs=Yes). However, the "Choose Setup Language" dialog always appears with English selected. Is this broken?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the reply, Danita.
1) time will tell I guess, if I'm one of the lucky ones. We still got a few incidents left with NTS.
2)Musta been blind. I'll look again when I return. It's probably right there beside that box that says 'Administrator', huh?
3)Hmmm.
4) Don't know if that's same problem reported originally or not. We don't do many account moves, thankfully.
5) Entire backend system will be done at once. (after backups, of course) Same as we did with EP. Lot cleaner that way. The next week following will begin the client rollout in a 90day window.

It's almost making me nervous that I haven't heard any really major blowups with this upgrade. Heaven knows noone on this list needs that, but I'm afraid it's going to be my turn....

1) Scheduled Events fail to run
Some sites are reporting that renaming the NGWCHECK.DB file and allowing it to rebuild fixes this. Others haven't been as lucky.

2) GWCheck does not send the Administrator mail
GWCHECK does send the Administrator mail - at least to me. You set the Administrator by selecting the domain in C1, editing the properties, and there on the GroupWise Identification page is the Administrator field. This can be a user, a distribution list or even an NDS group that has been made a part of a GW post office, so long as the visibility of whoever you are listing is at least domain.

3) After the domain has been upgraded, File transmission failed [890F] errors on GW 5.5 POAs consoles and File transmission failed [B300] errors on GW 6 POAs
** These B300s seem to be "cosmetic" and go away without any major issues. And although the 890F issues point to IP problems, some of these have just resolved themselves too.

4)I can't move GroupWise accounts between post offices in ConsleOne, it's
greyed out. I did move a few accounts from a 5.5 EP post office to 6
post office with NWADMIN and it seemed to work. All mail got moved and the users can access.
**I can right click on a user in the GW view and get the move dialog boxes, but didn't actually do the move. I'll have to try this later.
*** Actually, unlike NWADMIN where you could do this right on the GroupWise page for the user, C1 seems to require that you right-click and Move. It's just an interface change.

Any other issues we need to watch for?
Do you have your WebAccess planned out if all of your POs won't go to GW6 the same day?
