OT: Sendmail aliases

Our email systems is frontended by a Linux box running sendmail with an
alias file contains several special aliases and all of the valid
GroupWise email addresses.   At my previous job, the Linux guy set up an
alias file with only the "special" aliases and the rest of the email
that did not match the special aliases was redirected to GroupWise.  
Does anyone know how to do this?
