For those Novell people that read/haunt this list:
Can we please get a definitive white paper/app note/research tid
(something) that details officially all the various tools that Novell
provides for backing up GW, what they do, how they do it, what
versions are current / support / work with what versions of GW, etc?
It looks like I am going to be called in to assist with a school
district that is having trouble getting backup exec to backup GW.
It would be really really nice if I could go out there with some sense
of just exactly what Novell's position is on all of the various
approaches. I'm just not sure what to suggest as a "best practice".
At one site we are using dbcopy pretty successfully. But it does not
seem to clean up after itself, and there just are odd issues with it.
At another site we stuggled to get anything to work after upgrading
from 6.0 to 6.5, and for the longest time now they have been using
tsafsgw (I think that is what it is).
Yet another site is using tsafs with the /enable gw = true switch
"A definitive guide to GW backup tools techniques and gotchas" would
be just dandy!
The more I see the less I know/The more I learn to let [delusions of
absolute truth] go
