[ngw] dbcopy as a "complete" backup solution

Do you get the domain database file as well? I thought that was locked by console one and the POA agents.

I'm not sure about the locking, but I use some switches to retry if the file is locked.  I still get a full copy daily.  You could always shut down the agents, run it, then start the agents again.  Once your initial robocopy is done the subsequent runs will be very short.

But does it do file locking, in "GroupWise" fashion, as dbcopy is
reputed to do.?

I'd question file (content) integrity. Or at least, worry about it.
