If you're looking for Single Sign-on with Salesforce, that's included free of charge with our Riva Integration Server.  With Riva's integration with Salesforce Single Sign-on, your users' eDirectory password is automatically applied as their Salesforce password.  
 
Two simple steps:  click the checkbox in your Salesforce instance to indicate you want to apply Single Sign-on and enter the IP address of the Single Sign-on source (your eDirectory LDAP server) in the Riva administration interface and you're done.

Of course, you're right. We had to sort out our NAM acronyms this morning and I ended up typing the wrong one.
 
We are specifically looking for SAML. And there's a nice Cool Solution for salesforce.com, we just don't have any expertise with setting the infrastructure.
 
I'll contact you off-line when we have a clearer picture of the approach we're going to take.

Hi Holly.  You're talking about Novell Access Manager I believe.... and yes, that would be me. :)

If the application supports one of the federation protocols, like SAML, Liberty, or WS-Fed, this works quite well.  I've done it with a number of applications now and more and more vendors are supporting these methods.
