Actually you could go directly to eDir for passwords OR LDAP. With LDAP you can use pretty much any source, including AD.

It may not be free or cheap, but I believe JRB Utilities can do this.

If you change to LDAP auth you may have more options as you'd simply be changing eDir passwords.
