I agree here.. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Novell should give up on the Mac/Linux client, it's just too late for that now (I gave up on them a while ago myself).  Just integrate better with the native applications would be fine by me (I'm perfectly happy in Apple Mail, just wish I had some way to integrate the calendar app).  

As much as I would really love to see a native Mac client, I pretty much was resigned to the fact that it would never happen a while ago.  The web direction is really the best bet at this juncture.  I would pour my limited resources into that if it were me.

If there is ONE thing I could get native on the Mac, it would be Novell Designer w/ full live function support... but I digress :)
