Did you try various GW Check options on the CEO's database.

I upgraded our primary domain and one secondary domain and its PO's to 8.0.1. On most of the clients that were upgraded to 8 or 8.01 we get this error, usually when you hit send. Spell check wasn't causing our troubles. I've tried Clean-it, removing profiles, re-installs, creating manual mail profiles to the GW servers and eventually backgrading to 7.0.3. None of our 7.0.3 clients running against an 8.0.1 PO have any problems. The address book dll and MAPI integration seems to be a problem with version 8.

My CEO recently found out his auto-signature was listed 4 times, three of which were identical old ones. Unfortunately one of the old ones became the default for him. He edited his signature to our new address and phone numbers last December and GW was using it until about a month ago. To say he was pissed beyond belief is an understatement when he realized that his auto-signature tag was going out with the incorrect address and phone information and that he had 4 signatures when he originally only created one that he simply edited. His is one of the ones that has crashed after he has typed in (always a long) message and then hit send. He does not use spell check. I assume when crashed more than a month ago when it recovered it restored his old signature tag and this has happened at least 2 more times since.

What is unfortunate is this is a CEO that has used GW since version 4 and now he can't stand it. I am from the old WP version 3.1 days.

From view file problems to the many crashes in version 8 I have decided that we are going to ditch upgrading the rest of our organization to version 8 and look for a new solution. It seems the GW team at Novell is not what it used to be. It seems the Novell parent has been teaching the GW kids to forget the KISS principle. The most important thing with GW should be to allow the busy customer to send a message reliably.

Thank you for the response.

I have opened a ticket with Novell.

We shall wait and see!

Rest assured that you are not alone. And no, I haven't found a fix for it either. Although, recopying the view files from the server to my client has resolved some other issues (even after a clean uninstall/reinstall).

I have had several Users complain about the GW Client crashing with this error:

"Internal Error" - The address book deinitialization function was never called by its parent application.

Happens on more than one computer thay are using.

I have uninstalled the client.
Used the cleaning tool.
Reinstalled MAPI.
Reinstalled the GW Client.

GWCheck on User DB
Structural Rebuild
Index
Content Check

The error continues.

I received it just a few minutes ago when trying to spell check a message.

Had to reboot to get GW to function again.

Windows xp sp3
GW 8.0.1 1/8/2010
Build 89145

Any one else have this issue. Any solutions.

Thanks!!
