[ngw] Migrate from Physical to Vmware (Converged Infrastructure)

That's actually pretty easy, too.
Just set up eDir (OES) on your server and add it to existing tree. If the GW server is oes, just remove it from the tree after you get done. If it is the master replica holder and/or cert server, you would want to move those functions prior to removal, of course.

HI James,

MMM i like your take on it...it does feel much cleaner .. just the eDir (oes) side of things but that not to big of an issue..

The best solution, in my opinion, is to build new servers and migrate the database.
I believe it is just as fast, and a lot cleaner and safer.
There is nothing on the host machine that GW is dependent on that is unique to that server.

Mornign All,

Ok i was wondering what did the companies that moved from physical GW (SLES/OES) and some of them on a cluster use to do the migration to virtual, surely not that vmware "converter application"?.. i used it a couple of times, and it is very unstable in my opinion, and that were not even for big migrations, just a windows server here and there?..and one or 2 small linux boxes?..

tell me there is some magic software that works evertytime and the first time ... platespin?....

Kind Regards,
