[ngw] ngw Digest, Vol 73, Issue 8

Jason Knudson jknudson at co.missoula.mt.us

Is anyone using AD for GroupWise login and then also telling the mobile gateway to use the GW password and getting the AD password to be used at the mobile device?

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks Ken, I'm doing the same keeping my SR open until they come back
to me. I'll look at upgrading hopefully in the next week or so.

I was told that I could go ahead and upgrade to the latest GMS. Sounds
like there might be an issue with SSLCheck. I just finished the GMS
upgrade and everything appears to be working correctly. I'm keeping my
SR open until I make sure that no one is having problems anymore. I
sent in my logs,etc from SSLCheck...hoping to hear back about that also.
But things look good at the moment.

I finally have some time, so I have opened an SR so I can get things
sorted out. I'll post back with my results also.

Ken
  That's the same thing I have, and opened an SR with MicroFocus. The
last response I got from them was Dec 30th asking for a remote session.

I'll post when they get me an answer.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I took some time off for
Christmas/New Years and didn't look at my work emails at all.
I have two post offices. The odd thing is that the SSLCheck script
claims that one post office is using SSL for SOAP and the other is not.

But actually both are NOT using SSL for SOAP at the moment. I have no
clue why the script thinks otherwise.

Ken,
   Can you tell me what the odd results are from the SSLCheck script
for the newest GMS? I'd like to know if it's what I'm having and
opened and SR and getting no response on.

Upgraded the GroupWise server agents to 2014 R2. GMS is still at
2.1.0
Build 230. Haven't had time to upgrade GMS yet since the SSLcheck
script is returning odd results. But I have a few users that suddenly
find their iOS devices stop syncing. GMS says they are synced and up
to
date, but they aren't getting new mail, etc. I have to re-initialize
their accounts to start things running again. Any thoughts? iOS bug?
or an R2 issue?

  I upgraded from GW 2012 to 2014 R2 and my GMS is at version 2..-
Build 230 and working fine. There is suppose to be an SSL check to do
before you upgrade GMS, but mine and Ken Etter is failing the check, it
says two of our POA's use SSL the other two aren't, when none of them
are using SSL. We both have SR's open to find out what is going on.

I'm reviewing the documentation on upgrading GroupWise Mobility Service
2014 R2, and am puzzled. I hope someone can clarify.

In the Installation Guide, under GroupWise Requirements, it says:

======

In order for the GroupWise Sync Agent to interact successfully with a
GroupWise POA, your GroupWise system must meet the following
requirements:

    In post offices that have mobile device users:

	    GroupWise 2014 R2 or later.

======

OK, that makes sense - I need to upgrade all my post offices before I
upgrade Mobility. But then the very next sentence says:

======

IMPORTANT: When you are ready to upgrade from GroupWise 2012 or
GroupWise 2014 to GroupWise 2014 R2, update your Mobility system to
Mobility Service 2014 R2 before you upgrade your GroupWise system.

======

Is this saying that I need to upgrade Mobility first, and then Mobility
will be broken until I upgrade all my post offices? In other words, I
don't have the luxury of upgrading only my primary domain (and one post
office*) to R2, and leaving everything else at GroupWise 2012 for a
couple weeks?

*for giving the training department an actual working environment with
which to develop their next course.

Hi Al,

I am currently working with Ken on an SR he has for this. Our engineer would like to figure out what is going on with the SSL check. If you would set the GroupWise Connector log to debug, get the error again with the upgrade to GMS 2014 R2. Then send me that log, along with everything in the ssl checker directory.

Thanks,

Pam

   Maybe you missed this I have not tried upgrading GMS yet.

I've put the GroupWise-agent into debug and restarted gms. Here are

Hi Pam,

I think I have the same situation - I upgraded my domain and first post office to 2014 R2, leaving a separate PO at 2014. When attempting to upgrade GMS from 2.1 to 2014 R2, the SSLCheck says one PO is okay, the other not:

POA (2014 R2) is using the same HTTP protocol. No problem detected
POA (2014) is NOT using the same HTTP protocol. Problem detected. Change POA SOAP SSL protocol to: http://

Both POAs are configured the same (SOAP SSL disabled).

If you need another batch of logs I'm happy to send them to you.

Anthony

OK, that makes sense - I need to upgrade all my post offices before I

upgrade Mobility. But then the very next sentence says:

======

IMPORTANT: When you are ready to upgrade from GroupWise 2012 or

GroupWise 2014 to GroupWise 2014 R2, update your Mobility system to

Mobility Service 2014 R2 before you upgrade your GroupWise system.

======

Hi Anthony,

Please. The more the merrier :-) I also need the IP address of that 2014 post office. Email it to me off list.

Thanks,

Pam

Hi Al,

Having tried the upgrade should have put files in the ssl checker directory. Now all we need is for you to put the GroupWise-agent.log into debug mode and try it again. Then send everything from the ssl checker dir along with that log.

Thanks!

Pam,

  I'll do it but I haven't tried doing the upgrade yet because the SSL

check didn't pass.

Hi Al,

I am currently working with Ken on an SR he has for this. Our engineer

would like to figure out what is going on with the SSL check. If you

would set the GroupWise Connector log to debug, get the error again with

the upgrade to GMS 2014 R2. Then send me that log, along with

everything in the ssl checker directory.

Thanks,

David

  I upgraded from GW 2012 to 2014 R2 and my GMS is at version 2..-

Build 230 and working fine. There is suppose to be an SSL check to do

before you upgrade GMS, but mine and Ken Etter is failing the check, it

says two of our POA's use SSL the other two aren't, when none of them

are using SSL. We both have SR's open to find out what is going on.

Ken upgraded his GMS and says he's not having any issues.

I'm reviewing the documentation on upgrading GroupWise Mobility Service

2014 R2, and am puzzled. I hope someone can clarify.

In the Installation Guide, under GroupWise Requirements, it says:

======

In order for the GroupWise Sync Agent to interact successfully with a

GroupWise POA, your GroupWise system must meet the following

requirements:

    In post offices that have mobile device users:

	    GroupWise 2014 R2 or later.

======

OK, that makes sense - I need to upgrade all my post offices before I

upgrade Mobility. But then the very next sentence says:

======

GroupWise 2014 to GroupWise 2014 R2, update your Mobility system to

Mobility Service 2014 R2 before you upgrade your GroupWise system.

Is this saying that I need to upgrade Mobility first, and then Mobility
