Hi Craig,

I was not aware of this, perhaps that is the reason i did not got
response from
New Zealand ...

>Thanks for keeping the group going, and I am happy to put my hand in
>the pocket for some $$ if required.
If we would host it, i think based on the current traffic it would be
almost no cost at all.

And as i wrote in my response to James Taylor, helping hands from
different time zones are welcome
and for this the 12 hour time difference between New Zeeland and
Germany would be perfect

We do an regularly SMG Roundtable with Josh at 8AM CET with is early
for us, but comfortable for
New Zealand and a bit challenging for the midnight attendees from US
and Canada, but it works ...

On the other side, collecting some money and then using it not only for
running the group,
but also for promoting the group would help.

Over the last months i increased my activity at LinkedIn and honestly,
all of us using, supporting and loving GroupWise should do this.

GroupWise is th these times a highly underestimated solution,
especial as part of critical infrastructure messaging and we as a
group
needs to promote that more.

Regarding the costs i was thinking about a Patreon account, which would
be a easy way for everybody at the world
to support this project. See https://www.patreon.com/pricing

The Lite version would only cost 5% but it would be easier then sending
invoices all over the world.

But we can do whatever fits our needs.

Of course we need to be fully transparent to the group how the money
will be spent.

I was thinking about Patreon over the last two years especially to
finance our LAB and training environment
and did already discussed how to handle TAX and accounting. Its not
complicated but needs to be done.

As you can imagine, a one time 100 $ can be much easier handled than 10
times 10 $

Its all doable, perhaps at least two committed supporters (admin work
and / or finance contribution and / or hosting)

We could do all, for hosting, all we need is already there (VM hosts,
backup, firewalls), some admin help (regularly updating the VM and the
list server software) would be great.

We would coordinate the work so everybody involved has minimal effort
but can help in case of emergency.

And of course the (active) members at NGWlist should agree to this
concept.

What do you think about that?

Best regards

Thomas

Cheers guys, and I have sent a request to join the LinkedIn Group.

I am in New Zealand, and we have been hit hard by a cyclone here,
which
has knocked out power and infrastructure, and devastated the North
Island, so I am a bit late to the party!.

Thanks for keeping the group going, and I am happy to put my hand in
the pocket for some $$ if required.

Interestingly, I had Micro Focus support look at the GW 18.4.2 client
issue, and while they were looking at it, we couldn't get it to fault.
Next day, slow as a fly crawling across a tin of molasses. It is
noticeably worse with Quickviewer and Preview on. 18.3.2 client is
fine.

Cheers

Hi Gregg,

glad you joined our LinkedIn group.
Personally i think the
email list should continue to exist.
Portals come and go, email remains in existence ....

I see NGWList as a fast tool to reach our to others interested in
GroupWise and associated products and solutions.

Best regards

Thomas

Thank you Thomas! While I am not as active on the group, I still
enjoy
the updates and learning that is shared.

I have also joined your Linked In group as I am still active in
GroupWise, OES, File Dynamics, File Reporter and SLES consulting among
other things.

Take Care.

Hello NGWList!

As many of you know (although I never made a big announcement about

it),

I retired from GroupWise consulting on December 31, 2021. So it's
been

more than a year. I no longer even have a Groupwise serer <gasp>.

Although I sometimes miss being involved in the day to day aspects of

GroupWise, I enjoy not being concerned about email servers at 3 am :-)

Even though I officially retired over a year ago, I had known this was

coming for the past 7 years. During that time I have tried various

options to remove myself from being responsible for the NGWList, but

all

requests/offers to take over the management/ownership of the list have

stalled. I can no longer, in good faith, be the sole point of contact

and responsible party for the list.

ngwlist.com is currently hosted on Linode.com. It costs $20 a month

for

hosting and about $15 a year for domain registration.

At its height, there were about 2000 members of the list. Currently
we

have 225 members, which is still not a bad number, but as we know from

the traffic on the list, not all of those members are "active" or at

least they don't actively ask questions. I am sending this message to

poll the community as to whether we should keep the list active, and
if

so, appeal to some other person or entity to take over the

responsibility of the list. So now is the time to decide
1) does this

list continue to be of value to you, and if yes, 2) who is willing to

take it on?

Today is 17 Feb (heck it's already 18 Feb here in Italy). Let's try
to

find a solution, or a proposed solution by 1 March, 2023!

Thanks

Danita
